About Rochdale Capital:

Rochdale Capital is a non-profit community development loan fund that provides financing and technical assistance to cooperative businesses and other community-based organizations. With a national footprint, Rochdale Capital focuses on servicing under-resourced areas and those businesses owned by women or minorities.

Summary:

Work is assigned and supervised by Loan Officer, Vichet Inhar and Chief Lending Officer Klade Hare Nersasian. Given the nature of non-profit work, the candidate must have an interest working towards the development of under resourced communities. An ideal candidate will want to gain experience in community and economic development, cooperatives, and small business. Assignments are expected to be carried out with limited supervision remotely, therefore only candidates with sound judgment, time management skills, and internal motivation should apply. Tasks and duties carried out by intern will include but is not limited to, loan portfolio administration task and responsibilities, portfolio optimization, intake, and relationship management to include outreach and engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform assignments relating to loan administration and portfolio management. Some tasks include, communication with current and potentials borrowers discussing Rochdale Capital’s products and services, proper documentation of Rochdale Capital’s loan files, financial analysis of Rochdale Capital’s clients and oversight of the loan closing process.
  • Communicating with organizations and small businesses that support under resources communities.  
  • Document review and processing will require attention to detail when reviewing various business documents and financial statements.
  • Increase awareness of Rochdale Capital’s goals and the mission it serves, to as wide of an audience as possible via website, blogs, social media posts, etc.

Qualifications / Education:

The best candidate will be an undergraduate student within the Junior or Senior year of college. Graduate students are also encouraged to apply. Candidates looking to apply for this internship should be within fields of study such as business administration, marketing, finance, management, mathematics, accounting, or economics. Minimal knowledge of loan origination process acceptable but eagerness to learn about the process from start to finish. Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft excel and Microsoft word to help create streamline process for potential borrowers.

Requirements:

20 hours per week; Candidate will be required to come in one day a week. The remainder of hours can be discussed if offered position.

Submittal of all work assignments within determined deadlines.

Compensation:

$18 per hour, 20 hours per week for 10 weeks to candidate for the summer internship.
